I just finished a mini-project called MyBind.com - my aim was to design a free DNS hosting service, designed to be more user friendly, be less clunky, and have a more clean design than it's competitors. Let me know what you guys think :-)

I use EditDNS who I've had zero problems with.. but they're about to change (as of 1-Jan-2010). You'll need to update your spreadsheet to reflect their new limitations.

Very good information. I've used zoneedit and they are ok. definitely a good price for the service, but they don't have quite the footprint i'm looking for. i've been doing some research on other providers to potentially switch to and you might want to check out WWW.DNSREVIEWS.COM
i came across this site, and it has a ton of useful information on various DNS providers, both paid and free. also gives you a good writeup on each with user reviews as well.

has anyone experienced Akamai's DNS or UltraDNS?

Thanks!

Assuming you already have a web host:
1. Sign up your domain(s) with the DNS hosting service--make sure your DNS records are set up properly for your web hosting and mail hosting (MX records--only if different than web). The DNS records should be the same as they are with your registrar.
2. Wait a few hours for the DNS service to propagate
3. Point your registrar DNS to the new DNS hosting service addresses (the DNS service will specify).
