VPSLink really botched the job on this one. Their lack of communication and attention to support tickets over this multi-day multi-issue fiasco was astounding. When they did manage to get the VPS back online it was with 9 day old restores. When they finally acknowledged that the resorts were old, a bunch of us had already spent our Sundays rebuilding our VPSes. When they did finally respond to my tickets they said their own backs were from “about 30 hours prior to the drive failure”. This really makes me question their backup plans.

You are correct, the customer is responsible for making backups. However an hosting provider’s system should be set up in a fashion that if a failure occurs which is not the customer’s fault the backups should be recent not 30+ hours old.

I’m leaving them for good once I get my Slice setup.
