Grid service has been very disappointing. I’ve been on it for about 6 months and to sum it up:
The grid feels like it’s struggling most of the time - sites load like I’m on dial-up, and there are frequent blips where it times out. Kinda not what I expected from a cluster of thousands of servers.
I don’t run a monitor, but I notice outages of 5-10 minutes several times a week just checking email and viewing my own sites.
Apps using MySQL absolutely crawl. I ran this by support a few times and they always say the same thing “can you provide some examples?” - sure, everything using MySQL…
Ruby on Rails apps run like molasses in their “containers”.
Overall, for a service that was supposed to solve the issues with shared hosting - overloaded servers and uptime - it’s actually worse. I got faster response times and less downtime on shared servers.
