For me, both SliceHost and Linode has been great. Currently Linode does have its price advantage as they have just upgraded their plans, and they also have multiple DC you can choose from (being an Australian I really prefer a West Coast DC).
However, I have been with SliceHost for over 15 months now and there is one thing I can testify — their service and support is second to none, and their community is very developer friendly. Short period of time I have with Linode has not yet allowed me to test their support responses.
