SSL certs are for the most part a complete rip off and have been for years, and the market for them is a complete joke, less then 0.01% of the total estimate of websites use certificates chained from roots in most browsers that aren’t expired.

Current stats for last month (October ‘07) is 115,756 verses 142,805,398 websites yet there are 350,868 ssl enabled websites. Compared to June which was 117,073 “valid” and 122,000,635 websites and 322,644 ssl sites total.

In fact I’m so jack of how hard it is to enable opportunistic website encryption SSL in some cases, especially with all the snooping going on, everyone should be making as much noise as possible to limit the snooping to real targets whatever.
