Not a VPS or anything, just standalone hosting. So far, only minor problems. Uptime has been good, support has been good – no major complaints, especially considering how cheap their prices are.

I’m not running massively complex stuff though. Simple drupal sites. I have no unrealistic expectations of premium customer-service for budget hosting, though the support so far has been quite reasonable.

I will continue to use them & am happy to recommend people to them.

what a bad company … i will suggest never sign up with this company .

1. Their after hours ppl do no pick up the phone and next day they say we dont have logs of any calls from you.

2. phone service says we operate between 8.30 to 5.30 they dont pick phones upto 900 am

3. in my exp telstra phone service was bad , it takes them 20 to 20 min to answer phone. I asked to talk to some in Incharge and thye hangup on me.

4. It took me 3 hours to convience the lower level of support that problem is at there end so he can move it up the ladder. over 5 hours now and upper level havent response back.

5. my website is down for over 24 hours , my clients , google and every where i am droping stuff and loosing money .

very irresponsible company … suggest look some where else..

Actually it’s 5x FastCGI processes + 1x control process. I use spawn-fcgi script that comes with lighttpd to bootstrap my fastcgi processes (instead of letting lighttpd doing it).

Max requests are 10,000.

So you have “PHP_FCGI_CHILDREN” => “4″ in 10-fastcgi.conf? What value are you using for PHP_FCGI_MAX_REQUESTS?

I use a Linode 540 out of Fremont CA. Latency to Adelaide is pretty decent, overall their service is just great, couldn’t be happier.

I recently grabbed an OpenVZ based VPS in LA with another company, latency is good back to AU but the VPS just feels slow :( Also the company manages everything using HyperVM which sucks for a few reasons, ie. your hostname and DNS servers are reset at each reboot of your VPS.

For whatever reason, so far I’ve enjoyed XEN based systems better.

Sorry to hear that you had issues with Web24.

Our aim in providing such “open” VPS plans was to allow subscribers to use as much of the server resources as were available and idle at the time while still providing guaranteed resources. At about the time of your issue a few of our hardware nodes were suffering from abuse of these “ideals”. So we took action and restricted burstable resources, increased swap and migrated heavy use VPS’s as an immediate measure to increase performance.

As of today we have doubled all our hardware resources (servers up to 32Gb RAM) with no increase in VPS density per hardware node. DISK wait is practically zero and we have a host of happy customers.
